How To Create Collaborations?

Synthrone Collaborator Tool allows you to share the access to your files with multiple users in your organisation.
It means you will be able to do work more efficiently on your content and provide roles with designated rights to multiple users.

Creating your first collaboration

  1. To start using Collaborator Tool, log in to your account and choose Synthrone Browser in dropdown menu:
  2. If you do not have any folders on which you would like to use Collaborator Tool,
right-click on blank space in the middle of the screen and select Create folder:

Name your folder accordingly and press Create button:

Your folder will appear in the upper menu, among other existing folders:

Now you can start exploring the functionality of the Collaborator.
  3. Right-click the folder and select Share, then choose Manage Collaborators:

  4. Type a corresponding username (e-mail) in the section Add new collaboration.
Then assign a new, appropriate, role to the user:

There are 3 possible options for you to choose from.
A user who created a folder, becomes an Owner of the folder.
It means that you can use the whole set of functionalities offered by a Collaborator Tool:

  • Sharing the folder with your colleagues and assigning the roles to them
  • Creating and removing users, changing the roles of existing ones
  • Generating links for sharing access to the files with users outside of the platform.
(in order to secure your data there is a possibility to set a password and expiration date for the generated link)
  • Changing the location of the folder (by choosing the option Move)
  • Copying a folder to a different location and renaming it
  • Viewing the details of the folder, like location, type, size etc
  • Adding folder into Favourites and creating a copy (alias) of the folder at the dashboard of Browser
  • Downloading your folder
  • Moving folder to Trash and deleting it

Your colleagues can be assigned the following roles:
Co-Owner
Has same set of functionalities as the owner with few exceptions:

  • He can create new folders within the existing folder (although he will not be their Owner)
  • He can create and manage the users with the folder (but has no right to modify the access for the Owner)

Editor
Has the access to the same functionality as a co-owner although he:

  • cannot create new users or assign roles to existing ones
  • cannot share links with users outside of the platform

Viewer
A viewer can download files, add them to favourites and view the details of the folder.

Note:
All users are assigned the same roles in every subsequent folder created in the original one.
