How to localize products?

Before we move further with other explanations it is useful to mention what is localization first place.

Language localization is the process of adapting a product that has been previously translated into multiple languages to a specific country or region.

In Synthrone the process of localization is rather simple and contains the only couple of steps.

After you have created a file in the primary language, let’s say it is EN (GB), other markets might wonder how to localize it without creating an additional PDPD and transferring all the existing data there.

The answer is quite simple here.

As soon as you open the PDPD in Crafter (right-click - open with Crafter) just go to the right-side menu and enable the option Localization:

After that just press the plus icon next to Master tab and choose the correspondent language option:

Please, note that after you add the localization of the product to the PDPD card, the content from the Master tab will be automatically copied into new localization.

Then everything you need to do is to go to the newly created tab and translate the content into the needed language.

Otherwise, if you are not the one who is responsible for the translation just use one of the below options:

Mind that despite the name of this option “Get Translation”, you will get a file with HTML-marked content there.

Please be aware to remind the agency not to remove those HTML tags and not to switch the order of columns, etc.

In order to upload the localized content back, use the option Upload Translation. Prior to that do not forget to upload the file with a translation to the correspondent folder in Synthrone.

You can also upload basic content translation for multiple localizations of one product using Tabler, using the same principle of copy-pasting the columns as in Excel.
