Files panel – Browser overview

Files Panel is the place where all files are kept and organized into folders. It is also the first thing you will see after opening Browser.

If you have another Panel already opened select the Files panel tab to switch:




  1. Double-click on the folder to open it and see its content:


  2. At the top of the Files panel, is a bar that indicates which Panel is now open, and a file path. This bar also has Small button shortcuts. With no files or folders selected, there are 3 available: Show hidden items (a), Refresh (b), Change view (c):


    Note:
    Hovering with your mouse over these small buttons will display a hint which is which:


    1. Show hidden items button will display hidden files and folders:


      Click on the button again to hide them:


      Note:
      While renaming type a dot (".") before a file name, to make it hidden (example: .file.pdpd, .folder).

    2. To refresh the Browser, click on the Refresh button Doing this will update the file list with recently uploaded files or any newest changes:


    3. You can change the view mode to the list by using the Change view button. The button will change to illustrate other than the selected view mode. Use it again to change it back:


  3. Right-click on the item to see the context menu. Depending on the type of item selected, a folder (a), a product file / landing page (b), or an asset (c), each will have few different buttons:

    Note:
    Likewise, depending on the type of item selected (by left-clicking), the shortcut bar will show different additional shortcut buttons.
    1. for a folder you will be able to create a New Product or a New Page inside of it:


    2. if you right-click on a product file (.pdpd) or a landing page, it will be possible to immediately open them in Crafter or Tabler:


      As well as showing Associated Files (files that have been used to create a given product file or a landing page. Refer to this guide to learn more):


    3. the assets' (i.e. .jpg files) context menu has Manage versions feature:


      If a given asset was replaced with a newer file (uploading a new file with the same file name), it will be possible to manage those versions. To download a specific version click on the Settings button and select download:



  4. To share files or folders select Sharethen choose an option appropriate for you: Share Public Link (a) or Manage Collaborators (b):
    1. To share a file or a folder with anyone, even with people outside the Synthrone environment, select Share Public link:

    2. If you want to share a folder with people in your organization, inside your Synthrone environment, select Manage Collaborators:

  5. You can also double-click on any file to preview it: a picture (a), a video (b), a product file (c), document (d), or other:
     
    1. Picture preview (for example a .jpg or .png file). You can zoom in or out to better see the previewed file:


      If you want to place a comment about the file, use the comments button:

      Select the download button to download the file:


    2. A video preview (.mp4 file). Use the play button to start the video:


    3. both Basic and Rich Marketing Content can be seen in the product card preview. If you wish to can see how the product card would look on a different device screen, select a button with the appropriate device icon to see the given view. The current view is highlighted in blue:

      Click on the Edit button to open the product file in Crafter. You can also use the Associated files button, to see files used for the creation of the given product file:


      Comments feature for product files is available in Crafter only. If you want to know more, refer to this guide.


    4. Documents can also be previewed and opened in Google Docs:


      Click on the icon to save the file to your Google drive and open it in Google Docs:




      Note:
      Any changes made in Google Docs, will not automatically transfer into files present in Browser. You have to manually download changed file from Google Docs and upload it to Synthrone.



  6. To upload a file you can also drag it from your computer and drop it into blank space in Synthrone Browser Files Panel:
